Lordstone Corporation conducts search resulting in the appointment of Rear Admiral William D. Baumgartner, U.S. Coast Guard, Retired, as Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Senior Vice President of Marine Operations.

GLADSTONE, MI (Wednesday, September 11, 2013) – After an international search spanning 4 continents, the executive search firm of Lordstone Corporation is pleased to announce that Rear Admiral William D. Baumgartner, U.S. Coast Guard, Retired, has been named as Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s new Senior Vice President of Marine Operations.

The search for the new Senior Vice President of Marine Operations for Royal Caribbean was exhaustive and thorough, encompassing multiple sectors of the marine industry including competing cruise lines, ferry lines, tanker companies, shipbuilders, classification societies and port authorities. This resulted in more than 10 candidates being shortlisted and considered by the search firm, from more than 6 countries, including Norway, Germany, The United Kingdom, Singapore and Australia. The search was conducted earlier this year over a 4 month period.

Recently retired from a distinguished 33-year career, RADM Baumgartner served as Commander of the Seventh Coast Guard District with responsibility over 40 ships, more than 11,000 people and all Coast Guard operations in the Southeastern U.S. and Caribbean basin. Prior to this role, RADM Baumgartner served as the Judge Advocate General for the Coast Guard, a $10 billion organization with more than 50,000 full-time and 40,000 part-time employees. RADM Baumgartner began his career at sea and served as the commanding officer of two Coast Guard ships. He holds a Law Degree from Harvard Law School, an MBA from the University of New Orleans and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Engineering and Electrical Engineering from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
